Brand Session Prep Guide

  • What to expect

I will send you an email with available session dates within 24 hours of your inquiry.

Once we have decided on a date and time, I will send you the contract and invoice for you to sign and pay your 50% retainer to reserve your session date.

Next you will receive a welcome email and brand questionnaire to fill out. I will read over your answers and create a session outline and shot list for you to review within one week of your questionnaire completion. We can then brainstorm additional ideas together.

I will send you an email one week before your session date to touch base and go over any last minute details and answer any questions you may have.

You will receive a confirmation text from me the day before your session.

I will have your photos edited and your gallery delivered to you within 2 weeks of your session date.

  • What to wear

Your outfit will make a big difference to your photos so choose something that suits your personality and your brand. Make sure your clothes compliment your body type and fit well. Simpler is better but feel free to add a pop of color to add some personality and flair. Keep your skin tone and hair in mind when choosing an outfit as contrasting colors make for some of the best photos. I encourage you to check out my Pinterest board for ideas on colors that go well together. I’m happy to consult you on your wardrobe if you need help deciding what would look best.

  • How to prepare

Make any hair or makeup appointments as early as possible so that’s one less thing you have to worry about as your session date gets close.

Have outfit choices picked out days before the session. Try everything on to make sure items fit well and are comfortable. Bring shirts on hangers and make sure they are free of any wrinkles.

Have everything ready to go the day before your session and allow plenty of time to get ready and arrive on time.

  • Session flow

I like to start with a few headshots first. It’s normal for people to take a minute to warm up in front of the camera so we’ll do some serious ones first then some fun lifestyle portraits. Next I’ll photograph action shots of you working along with detail shots of things that represent your brand. Then after a possible outfit change, we’ll get some more headshot/personal brand images. Each session is custom tailored to fit you brand session needs so ultimately the flow of the session will depend on exactly what type of images you’re looking for.

  • Location

We can decide on the location of your session together. The goal is to choose a location that fits your brand’s style and personality. If you have an office or physical location, I’m happy to shoot in your space. There are some great studio options for a clean, modern office feel that we can choose from also. Studio fees will be added to your normal session price.

  • Time

Branding sessions that take place indoors are scheduled for late morning to mid day. Outdoor sessions are typically scheduled for early morning or late evening before sunset to take advantage of the best light.

  • What to bring

Lint roller to get off any unwanted lint, pet hair, or threads off of clothing when you arrive.

Any props or items that represent your brand.

    Water (or wine!) to drink.
