Take Cover | Norman, Oklahoma Brand & Headshot Photographer
One of my favorite parts of being an Oklahoma brand photographer is getting to help small businesses translate their vision into visuals that feel so them. Recently, I had the honor of planning and photographing a full brand session for Take Cover, a locally owned Oklahoma company creating the first-of-its-kind fabric storm shelter cover designed to be strong, breathable, and easy to use.
This session took place in OKC and was all about blending rugged function with heartfelt storytelling. Take Cover isn’t just selling a product, they’re offering peace of mind. That meant this shoot needed to feel warm, trustworthy, and durable, while also speaking to the everyday families who rely on their shelters to stay safe during Oklahoma’s intense storm season.
Before the session, I worked closely with Wooster Creative, the brand agency behind Take Cover’s brand, to understand the tone and goals they were aiming for. The brand guide was beautifully thought out emphasizing real-world functionality, intentional craftsmanship, and connection to home and family. I used that direction to shape a shot list that included behind-the-scenes images of the sewing process, up-close product detail shots, and real-life moments with a model family interacting with the cover.
We shot everything from the garage setup to a test clip of a vehicle driving over the cover (yes, it’s that strong), all the way to cozy family shots inside the shelter itself. I wanted the final gallery to show the journey: how this product is made, how it performs, and who it protects.
If you’re building a product rooted in purpose, your visuals should reflect that. For Take Cover, that meant capturing both the grit and the grace, the strength of the material, the care in the stitching, and the love of the families who count on it.
