Martin Family Session ~ Downtown Norman | Oklahoma Family Photographer

This downtown Norman, Oklahoma family photo session has a fun, urban vibe that I love! We started out beside Stash in a fun little outdoor area that has several different wall art murals by local artists. The dad in this family is one of the beer brewers at BIG Brewing Co. in Norman so we headed there next for the family to get changed into their second outfits. After a stroll down Main Street we hit several different spots in the alley. Mothman’s enormous, iconic bird mural is always a favorite so we had to get a photo with it in the background of course!

When the mother reached out to me about wanting a family photo session, she told me that their middle daughter is a cancer patient and was about to start treatment again. That hit me in the heart strings pretty hard :( I try to live every day with the stoic saying “Memento Mori” (remember you must die) in mind to remind myself that any day could be our last or the last of our loved one’s. I even have it tattooed on me. This mother has a tattoo that says, “Don’t get lost in a sea of despair.” We all do what we can to remind ourselves of the reality and fragility of life. It was so incredibly important to me in this session to not just take family photos but to give this family genuine visual memories.
